Taking cues from their Resort 2013 Garden Party in New York in June earlier this year, Stella McCartney hosted a carnival for guests complete with a champagne ring toss, foosball table, ‘hook-a-duck’, balloons and bubbles! Guests were treated to fun, games, candy floss, bubbles and champagne throughout the evening as models mingled and looked ravishing in Stella McCartney’s Pre-Fall and Fall 2012 garb.
All this occurred in the comforts of The Shopping Gallery at Hilton Singapore, rubbing shoulders with a slew of stores also owned by Club21 and most importantly, on an astro turf lawn that a little bird told me cost an astronomical amount of money! Worlds apart from the East Village’s Marble Cemetery that served as the backdrop for the same party in New York City no?
I would have loved to see more sleeveless pieces but seeing that this is a Pre-Fall and Fall collection, I don’t fault the designer. Short sleeve options are just a personal preference. The floral appliqués with the baroque influence didn’t annoy me as much as I thought it would. Stella’s choice of not using gold (*cough* Anna Dello Russo *cough*) and using contrasting cerulean blue and white was reminiscent of Chinese porcelain.
After a quick check of prices online, it’s safe to say that Stella McCartney is yet another name I can add to my growing list of aspirational brands to own. The Saskia gown (which I Instagrammed) would set me back $5,600, the Berkeley printed silk peplum skirt would do $4,000 worth of damage, while the Diamond intarsia wool turtleneck would set me back a modest $900. Yes, only $900. Ouch!
That being said, I’ll be a happy camper when the day come around where I can part with my hard-earned money and be the proud owner of any one of Stella McCartney’s namesake brand togs. (Thank goodness for her collaboration with Adidas, I do already own several much more affordable pieces, which you’ve seen here, here and here)
Something I’d definitely like to own are these pair of shoes! If you visit the Stella McCartney store and discover slobber all over a pair of these beauties, sorry Club21, that would’ve been me! 😀
Stella McCartney is located at 581 Orchard Road 02-19 Hilton Shopping Gallery, Singapore 238883.
